I am currently Senior Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychology, Babeș-Bolyai University, specialist in clinical psychology, psychological counselling and psychotherapy as well as supervisor certified by the Romanian Board of Psychologists. Between 2004 and 2005 I was trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at Albert Ellis Institute (USA), the International Institute for Advanced Studies of Psychotherapy and Applied Mental Health (Babes-Bolyai University) and the Romanian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapies. Between 2009 and 2011 I was trained in Genetic Counselling at Manchester University (United Kingdom). Having been trained both in psychotherapy and genetic counselling, my professional and scientific expertise include both fundamental research – the investigation of psychological factors that are associated with psychological and genetic disorders, and applied research – the investigation of the efficacy of psychological interventions for disorders where psychological and/or genetic etiopathogenetic factors are involved.
Project Mentor: Prof. Univ. Dr. Doina Cosman
Dr. Doina Cosman is associate professor of Psychiatry and Mental Health at the Department of Clinical Psychology, University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Iuliu Hatieganu” Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She has been extensively involved in teaching and research activities and has mentored numerous MSc, PhD and Postdoc students. She has coordinated several national and international projects, and most recently she participated as Romanian Principal Investigator in two large projects funded by EU 7th Framework Program investigating the prevention of suicide in adolescents in Europe. She was awarded in 2011 with Krepelin-Alzheimer Medal from Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich as recognition for her merits in the research of suicidology. She published more than 70 articles, including Lancet, World Psychiatry, Lancet Psychiatry, etc. as the single Romanian author and has a rich publishing activity as author/co-author of monographs focused on suicidal behavior and mental health (e.g. Suicide Prevention in Romania, in D. Wasserman and C. Wasserman (ed.) Oxford Textbook of Suicidology and Suicide Prevention).
